Three men, including a former Jamaican police officer, are facing murder charges in an Irvine home invasion that left one man dead and another seriously injured last year. Devon Quinland, 33, of Westminster, Andre Andrews, 34, of Miramar, Florida and Omar Miller, 41, of Lauderdale, Florida, each were charged with multiple felony counts, including murder, conspiracy and assault. They also face a “special circumstances” enhancement; because the killing is alleged to have occurred during the commission of a burglary, prosecutors could pursue the death penalty. Police had received a call about an injured man in a home on Bayleaf Lane in Irvine on Oct. 26, 2019 at around 5:45 a.m. A man told officers that he and his roommate had been assaulted in the home, according to prosecutors. He and another man, who had been shot several times, were taken to a hospital. The gunshot victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police identified him as 20-year-old Raymond Alcala.
